How Many Rows? How Many in Each Row?

Description

Games provide a fun environment to support children in developing number fluency. As children learn to play, speed should not be the main focus. Encourage the use of strategies and ask students to explain their reasoning. If students struggle with their calculations, encourage them to work out the answers mentally or in writing, using whatever methods make the most sense to them. At any point, you should be able to ask them how they arrived at a numerical answer. The emphasis should be on how they communicate their reasoning and the strategy used for the calculation.
